Time to step up my hate campaign against the Daily Hate.
(please note, hate + hate = benevolence. I have countered a negative with a negative to create a positive. You people owe me a debt of fucking gratitude for the service I perform)
Having watched Question Time last night, I retired to bed with that dull aching feeling one gets when one knows they are going to wake up the next day and observe vile stupidity and bigotry knock on their door. And lo and behold, I woke up, went to work, checked the internet for the news and the first article I read (apart from the one on Labour coming 5th to the BNP in Henley) was the little uproar against the Beeb for allowing Grayson Perry on QT wearing a weird outfit.
What happened to diversity? Looking past asthetics to get to the personality of someone and their views, character etc? What happened to the British trait of live and let live, tolerance, decency? The Daily Mail’s article displays how the so-called patriotic right wing middle classes of Britain are infected with a growing number of intolerant bastards. See their article here.
Interestingly, a lot of the Hate Mail readers that posted did not follow Dacre’s hateful editorial line on the matter (and boy is the piece utterly biased and nasty). I think this will be a message to the editorial department at the Mail: note to Ed, must inject more attention to propaganda on social norms and morality; public standards etc.
The fact is, we should judge the contestants on QT on what they say and their ability to argue a point. That’s it. I couldn’t give a damn if a gay rights campaigner turned up and spoke whilst being blown by a sturdy Spandish lad named Manuel. I couldn’t care less if a black rights activist turned up wearing nothing but tats saying stuff like “thug 4 life nigga” and “fuck you mark as bitch nigger motherfucker”. Really, it doesn’t bother me.
Not because I would necessarily approve of their views (hell, I might) – I just believe fervently in diversity, equality and the right of the individual to be and dress and say what they want. Simple as that. To be offended by a person’s choice in these matters is a deliberate political ploy, and one based on reactionary sentiment and bigotry. Because, why does it bother people what Perry wore on QT? Really? Why does it speak of standards? Whose standards? Does wearing a tie make someone clever, moral, astute? Hitler dressed well. Jesus, his waffen SS looked perfectly magnificent dressed up to the nines. So what the fuck has ‘Robin Day turning in his grave’ etc got to do with anything? It’s a load of old bullshit is what it is.
This is a far better and more sensible article on the matter. Now, why can’t right wingers adopt a more Libertarian approach to these things? It’s the best part of the political spectrum to occupy. You get to have all the best bits of liberalism/classical liberalism, whilst rejecting the annoying stuff and the need to support a powerful overarching State. WIn-win. It’s like, being right all the time, and not having to be associated with the London metropolitan liberal elite, who simple require placing against a wall and being Mausered to death. Preferably by me. Wearing a cape, a hood, a jet pack and several litres of fuel.
