The Best Debunking of 9/11 Conspiracy Myths on the Net

About a year and a half ago, soon after Mr Boatang and I set up this mighty blog, I added a comment on the Guardian’s ‘Comment is Free’ blog on 9/11 conspiracy theory and how much of a load of old bullshit it is. I commented on the nonsense spouted by one purveyor of such a pathetic theory -  a chap named Dylan Avery who came up with some silly stylistic-yet-fact-free documentary called ‘Loose Change‘. No doubt it did wonders for his public profile and fame, whilst doing an unseemly disservice to grieving victims of the Islamic terror atrocity. Nice to see that in our post-enlightenment age, people can make such caring rational choices as seeking out the truth on behalf of the people. I mean, if it weren’t for no-mark geeks with computers and egos, how would we be able to challenge uber-rich oligarchies and corrupt, murderous regimes pretending to be democracies?

I was quite amazed at the time of rattling off my quick comment, because within about a day of posting it, I got an email from Dylan Avery asking who I was, what I knew about him and whether I’d seen his ‘final cut’ documentary. What was even more amazing was how he found my gmail address, as it wasn’t listed on my blog and wasn’t available to readers at the Guardian. Spooky!

Naturally I deleted the email and that was that – I’m not wasting my time with that bullshit.

I’m not one of the world’s foremost geeksperts on 9/11 theories. I know enough to pass comment, but I find the entire debate immensely, well, Trekky, and sad and utterly pathetic, not to mention rather unseemly and repulsive. At the end of the day, why is it right that egos and over-active imaginations formulate silly theories that merely serve to demean the victims of 9/11 and make things shittier for the families. Not to mention the fact that this shite is bound to make the scum bag Islamists laugh even harder at what they’ve caused.

I’m a big fan of ‘Maddox‘, an Armenian-American satirist/humourist from Utah (see our links, he’s been listed here from the start). I love his humour, and his brilliant, sharp and harsh way of expressing himself. The stuff he comes out with is sheer genius and his illustrations are marvellous. Sadly his work rate on his site has slowed over recent years, though this is down to his various other projects.

Anyway, he did a fantastic piece a couple of years ago entitled ‘There is no 9/11 conspiracy you morons’ which expresses my own thoughts on Dylan Avery and ‘Loose Change’, except far better and far funnier.

This piece is definitely the best debunking of 9/11 Conspiracy theory on the internet – well worth a flick through if you’re in need of cheering up.

I think it’s important that there is always a place for harsh, brutal honesty and humour. Quite often, there’s no better way of making a point than to step away from the usual rules of debate and to slam home some common fucking sense with a sledge hammer. Even if it means taking up some basic cartoonography and lampooning your opponent with pin pricking accuracy.

This isn’t the most topical of discussions, but I never said I was on time with my stuff. I’m usually late but I get there in the end!

Bit like my music tastes.

Ciao, readers.

  1. Maddox does a terrible of debunking anything. His main arguments of Loose Change are terrible. Like the one where he says the makers of loose Change are liars because Dylan Avery isn’t dead cause the government would surely have killed him. What a shitty argument. Letting him live would give idiots like you and Maddox a chance to say “oooh 9/11 conspiracies are a bunch of bullshit”. I’ll tell you the same thing I told Maddox and that is you clearly have not done enough research AT ALL. All you can do is criticize Loose Change like it was the only documentary made about how 9/11 was an inside job. You don’t even bring in a valid argument in your crappy little article. How about you write another article when you do a little research on private bankers, who benefits from 9/11 or even better who benefits from us going to war. My god your the kind of people who make America the shithole its turning into day by day.

  2. Firstly, I’m British and have zero influence on your society.

Secondly, your post hoc ergo propter hoc argument is facile and embarassing to say the least. You could, I dare say, argue that certain people or groups have ‘done well’ out of 9/11. Does this mean it was orchestrated?

Winemakers do well out of growing grapes in hot countries, does that make regional climate patterns part of a global conspiracy?

And quite where your ‘war’ argument goes I don’t know. Please elaborate.

I think Maddox’s argument was simple but amazingly effective. If the US government was that hell bent on committing this destructive act (I take it that’s what you think, you conspiraloon idiot) then surely they’d have no qualms in shutting up the loud mouth running about exposing it.

It’s a simple argument, maybe that’s why it slipped you by. Not that it was a bad argument, but that it entailed some random semblance of sentience, no matter how basic.

Do run along, pal, and don’t bother coming back. We don’t do conspiraloonwingnutness at Boatang & Demetriou.
